Trying work out
trying to work it out
trying to work out a path
trying to work through it
Working Out is a night of work-in-progress, experimental performance and video by six artists and writers who are just trying to make it work. It is an opportunity for recent graduates, who are trying to navigate through life post university, to exhibit new ideas and critically engage with each other’s work.
The event has been organised and curated by Nellie Saunby and is a presentation of a new performance-in-progress. This new work has been supported by the Norther Charter Graduate Bursary which she was awarded last summer. Nellie has invited Calum Bayne, Jamie Hammill, Saoirse Anis, Sophie Soobramanien and Brooklyn Shakeshaft to also present a series of new works in progress.
Nellie Saunby is an artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne and likes how insignificance can be meaningful and vice versa. Graduating from Newcastle University’s Fine Art programme in 2018, she works with sculpture, text, drawing, video and performance.
